SOME SHIT HAS COME TO LIGHT. WE ARE PLAYING LA WITH THE HOTELIER IN NOVEMBER. TICKETS ON SALE IN 30 MINUTES.
This is my original demo for the title track from our second LP “Unmacho” (2013)
This song started out as a jangly guitar riff that sorta reminded me of “Something To Write Home About” era Get Up Kids. But then it morphed into something heavier.
You can hear the drums bleeding through my headphones in the beginning when I tracked the bass intro.
I changed the chorus lyrics from “my Reeboks” to “my sneakers” for the final version because I’m not a sellout, maaaan.
This is a theme song I wrote and recorded for the podcast Jonah Raydio. It was only used once during an episode featuring Nick Thorburn of Unicorns/Islands fame. He didn’t say anything about my theme song, which he heard, so I’m just going to assume he hates me.
This is my original demo for the track “Van Man” that appears on our second LP “Unmacho” (2013)
This song is really dumb but fun, I guess. It’s about celebrating my predilection for minivans, vans-in-general, namely our of necessity for a somewhat spacious vehicle for touring.
I really like the way the vocals turned out on this demo. Also, it was unintentional, but in retrospect, I like to imagine the chorus is “I’m a van man-baby” because I am a manbaby. Layers, dude.
Some of you may have heard this, but I’m re-posting it anyway.
This is a bedroom cover of Wheatus’ 1999 hit “Teenage Dirtbag”
I recorded in the winter of 2012/2013… I can’t remember exactly when. I did this at the same time Dave from Sleeping Bag and I were demoing/writing the “Dreamboats” split. Initially, I really wanted us to record a cover of this song for the split, but we decided to stick to all originals.
I added a guitar solo in the middle, and Adam did some wah-shredding over the outro. That was fun to record. He couldn’t even hear the track, I just pointed at him when he was supposed to start wailing in the key of the song.
This is my original demo for the song “New Mexico” that appears on our debut album “The Rozwell Kid LP” (2011)
I always liked the drum machine & smooth-ass synth in this demo, but it didn’t really fit the full band aesthetic of the first record. Also, this demo is sorely lacking the incredible guitar solo Adam Meisterhans wrote for it. It’s my favorite RK guitar solo, hands down.
Until the new record comes out in the Fall, I’m posting a bunch of weird stuff/b-sides/demos on our Soundcloud page.
This is a tribute song I wrote for Sheetz, the greatest gas station in the world.
